You can reach us, First Dental Associates, by calling 781-435-7290 or filling out our online form. We are here to help your family deal with your ever-changing oral care needs.

Laying A Good Foundation

Tooth decay and cavities are the most common oral health issues that affect young children.

We all know the reasons for this. Young children don’t always brush their teeth like they should. Kids often eat more sugary treats than they should, too.

Our team can and will support your efforts to keep your kids’ mouths healthy. We are happy to answer questions you may have about brushing and flossing your children’s teeth.

As your kids get a little older, we can discuss tips for teaching them to brush and floss. You should start by modeling what you want your children to do. By brushing your teeth at the same time as your kids, you can show them how often to brush (twice a day), how long to brush (two minutes), and what to do while brushing (cleaning your teeth on all sides).

You can do something similar by flossing or using another interdental cleaner on a daily basis.

And you can help them see the dentist office as a safe place by bringing them to visit us every six months. We want your kids to know that we are here to help them keep their teeth and gums as healthy as they can be.

We also provide professional dental cleanings and exams to help prevent or to identify problems early when they are easier to treat.

Be sure to ask about other services that can keep your kids’ smiling such as dental sealants, fluoride treatments, and custom-fitted athletic mouthguards.

Building Better Smiles For The Future

By the time your son or daughter becomes a teenager, his or her permanent teeth will likely have replaced their primary teeth.

This also makes this an important time in your child’s oral development. If you have been making regular visits to our family dentist office in Reading, MA, then we will have monitored those teeth as they came in.

We will be aware of any development issues such as crooked or crowded teeth, overbites or underbites that you and your teen may want to correct. If you son or daughter could benefit from orthodontic care, we offer Invisalign® at our office.

Invisalign can work on many different issues, but it does not use metal brackets and wires like braces. Instead, your teen would wear a series of custom-designed aligners (sort of like clear mouthguards) to gently push his or her teeth to create a straight, evenly spaced smile.

While this can be good for their self-confidence, it also can help their oral health. Straight teeth are easier to clean, which can reduce their risk of cavities and gum disease.

Dental Care That Grows With You

The longer you live, the more likely you are to suffer from a variety of oral health issues.

More than 90 percent of Americans will have a least one cavity in their lives. A majority of adults will develop gum disease at one time or another. And many of us will lose some teeth as well. In fact, an estimated 35 million Americans are missing one or both rows of their teeth.

We would prefer to help you prevent those problems through regular cleanings and exams, but if something should happen, just know that First Dental Associates can help restore your smile and the function of your teeth whether you are a still a parent or you now look forward to every opportunity to spend time with your grandchildren.
