Snap-On Smile® vs. Teeth Whitening: Which Is Right for Me?
Tooth discoloration can be corrected through a number of different cosmetic dentistry procedures, including Snap-On Smile® and teeth whitening. Learn about which might be right for you here.

If you’re thinking about cosmetic dentistry to improve your smile, you have a lot of options to choose among. These include tooth bonding, Invisalign®, and tooth-colored fillings. But if you want to whiten and brighten your smile, you might have it narrowed down to the Snap-On Smile® and teeth whitening.

Both of these cosmetic dentistry procedures can cover up stains and give you a brilliant new smile. However, there might be one that’s a better choice for you and your aesthetic goals.

Nasrin Sadeghi, DMD, Medha Singh, BDS, DMD, MS, and the rest of our team at First Dental Associates in Reading, Massachusetts, offer a wide variety of cosmetic dentistry options, including Snap-On Smile and teeth whitening.

In this blog, we outline both of these treatments and offer some suggestions to help you choose which is right for you.

What is Snap-On Smile?

Snap-On Smile is an innovative and affordable option for full-mouth reconstruction treatment. It’s a type of porcelain denture that’s specifically created to fit over your existing teeth, which is a huge advantage over traditional dentures, which require all of your teeth to be removed.

Snap-On Smile is literally that: a removable appliance. It’s also less costly than other cosmetic dentistry options, making it both convenient and easily attainable.

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening refers to a variety of methods to remove surface stains from your teeth to make them appear whiter. At First Dental Associates, we offer GLO® teeth whitening, a method that uses both heat and light technology along with hydrogen peroxide gel to whiten your teeth five shades within five days.

We have both in-office and take-home options available for you.

Which should you choose?

Both of these cosmetic dentistry options can give you a beautiful, white smile. However, the state of your teeth will determine which is better for you.

If you have extrinsic tooth stains — the kind that exist on the outside of your teeth — teeth whitening may be right for you. Teeth whitening can remove stains that are from general aging, staining foods and drinks, or smoking.

On the other hand, if you have tooth discoloration that exists deep beneath the surface, teeth whitening won’t be effective. In this case, Snap-On Smile would probably be the proper treatment for you.

Snap-On Smile can also correct a number of other cosmetic flaws such as teeth that are gapped, misshapen, or crooked.
